Thank you to our Tournament Title Sponsor of the Bluebonnet Classic, Antigua! Antigua is an apparel company that is in Golf Shops across the country and provided us with the tee gifts for the tournament.

Rules Corner

On this month’s edition of Rules Corner, we will be talking about the different areas of the course and how to determine which one your ball lies in. The Defined Areas of the Course are outlined in Rule 2 in the Rules of Golf. There are 4 specific Areas, the Teeing Area, Penalty Areas, Bunkers, and the Putting Green. Anywhere else on the course would be considered General Area, as long as it is not Out of Bounds. When looking at the Teeing Area and the Putting green, it is important to know that these only apply to the hole that is currently being played. All other Teeing Areas will just be considered General Area, and all other Putting Greens will be considered Wrong Greens. It is important to know what Area of the Course your ball currently lies in as this can affect any options you may have for relief and your ball can only lie in one area at a time. If part of your ball lies in both the General Area and one of the 4 specific areas previously listed, then your ball will be considered in one of those 4 specific areas. If part of your ball lies in 2 of the specific areas of the course it is treated as lying in the specific area that comes first in this order: Penalty Area, Bunker, Putting Green. You can find more information about the Rules for the Prestige Tour by reading the Hard Card, the STPGA Rules and Regulations, and the USGA Rules of Golf!

Thank you again to all our players, parents, host facilities, and Sponsors! We are looking forward to a great rest of the year with fierce competition and low scores! If your ball is known or virtually certain to be at rest within a YELLOW penalty area, players will only have 2 options of relief for the cost of one penalty stroke: stroke-and-distance or back-on-line. We are looking forward to making further strides and hope to fulfill our goal of leaving excellence on and off the golf course.
