    What are the differences in the Tours?
    Can my child play in more than one Tour?

        • Yes, players can move between tours, with some regulations. 
        • The 11-12 Division is available in the Little Linksters and Junior Tour and the 13-14 and 15-18 divisions are available in the Junior Links and Junior Tour.

    What is the difference between Junior Links and Junior Tour?

        • The Junior Tour Program is designed to give skilled junior golfers the opportunity to compete in professionally run tournaments.
        • The Junior Links Program is for Junior golfers, ages 13-18 who are either new to the game of golf or would like to gain more experience before playing in the Junior Tour.

    How are age divisions decided?

        Divisions are decided by the player’s age on the date of the Series Championship. The age that the player is on that date will be their division for the entire Series


        • 2024 Spring Series is open to Juniors ages 6-18 as of April 28, 2024.
        • 2024 Summer Series is open to Juniors ages 6-18 as of August 7, 2024.
        • 2024 Fall Series is open to Juniors ages 6-18 as of Round 2 of the Fall Championship.

        For the Prestige Tour players are entitled to play in the division corresponding to their age on the first day of the tournament.

    What does it mean for a player to “play up” from their current division?

        This means that a player is playing in an age group above what they would be classified for at their current age. Players must have approval to “declare up”. Players can “declare up” by filling out a Division Advancement Request on the STPGA website or by clicking here.

    How do I advance from playing 5-holes to 9-holes?

        To advance to the 9-hole Modified Division, the player must shoot 8 over par or lower in two events. All division advancement requests must be submitted to the Junior Golf Committee. Click here to view or fill out the Division Advancement Request.

    Is there a membership fee to become a STPGA member?

        A one-time membership fee of $95 is required in order to participate in the Southern Texas PGA Junior Golf Program. 

    How long is the membership good for?

        All memberships expire on December 31 of each year, regardless of when a junior becomes a member.

    Once I register for membership, how do I register for tournaments?

        Players can register for tournaments through their Bluegolf players account which is set up when the player registers as an STPGA Junior Golf member.

    How much do tournaments cost?

        Tournament entry fees range from $30 - $230 depending on a number of factors. Each tournament’s entry fee is ported on its Tournament Information Page.

        • Little Linksters: $30-$60
        • Junior Links: $30-$60
        • Junior Tour: $40-$125
        • Prestige Tour: $230-$290

    Is there a limit on how many tournaments a player can sign up for?

        No, there is no limit on how many tournaments a player can play in.

    Do I have to register for all my tournaments at once or can I register on a week-by-week basis?

        You may register at any time as long as you register for the event by 11:59pm the Wednesday prior. Please note that some events do fill up quickly and we recommend that you register sooner than later.

    How many spots are allocated for each division in a tournament?

        Tournaments fill on a first come first serve basis. There is NOT a specific number of spots set for each division.

    When does registration close for tournaments?

        • For weekend events: The tournament registration deadline is the Monday prior to the event. 
        • For weekday events: The tournament registration deadline is the Wednesday of the week before. 
        • The registration deadline for each tournament is on the Tournament Information Page.

Waitlist

    What happens if a tournament is full, and I am put on the waitlist?

        Once a tournament is full, all players that then register will be placed on the waiting list. Players on the waiting list will be placed into the event on a first-come, first-served basis according to space availability in their age division. 


        NOTE: Players will be notified via email that he/she has been placed into the tournament. A player may cancel himself/herself from the waiting list at any time via his/her online account.


    How does the waitlist work?

        Players are added to the waitlist once the tournament is full. You will receive an email if you are moved into the tournament from the waitlist. 

    When will I know if am accepted into the tournament?

        If a player chooses to remain on the waiting list, it is assumed that you still plan to play in the tournament if a spot becomes available.

    Do I need to cancel off the waitlist if I no longer am able to play?

    When are tee times posted and how do I find mine?

        Weekday event tee times will be sent via email by 5:00pm the Friday prior to the event and will also be posted in the Tournament Information Page for the event.


        Weekend event tee times will be sent via email by 5:00pm the Wednesday prior to the event and will also be posted in the Tournament Information Page for the event.

    When do I need to arrive at the course for my tee time?

        Players do not need to arrive any specific time. Please allow enough time to warm up, check in at registration, and arrive at your starting tee ten (10) minutes before your tee time.

    What Tours allow for the players to have caddies?

        • Caddies are allowed in the Little Linksters Tour and Junior Links Tour. Caddies are not allowed in the Prestige Tour or Junior Tour.

    Are spectator carts allowed at tournaments?

        Yes, the STPGA allows spectator carts; however, they will be allowed only at the discretion of the host facility. It is the spectator's responsibility to obtain course policy. Please note that spectator cart rental fees are at the discretion of the host facility.

    Can I use my pull cart during a tournament?

        Yes, pull carts are allowed, but is also at the discretion of the host facility.

    Are distance measuring devices allowed?

        Yes, as long as they do not measure slope or wind. If they do measure slope and wind, this feature must be turned off.

    Will there be food or drink provided at the tournament?

        Unless otherwise stated on the Tournament Information Page food and drink will be at the player’s expense. Players may bring their own food or drink, but this is also at the discretion of the host facility.


    Are players allowed to ride in carts?

        The only division allowed to ride in carts in our 5-hole divisions. All other divisions must walk.

Cancellation, Withdrawals and No-Shows

    How do I cancel a tournament?

        Players may cancel at any time prior to the deadline through their player’s account. It is a player’s responsibility to cancel out of a tournament as well as cancel off the waitlist if they no longer wish to play! Click Here to see a video tutorial

    What is the cancellation policy and deadline for each tournament?

        There is a $5 cancellation fee for Little Linksters, Junior Links and Junior Tour tournaments. There is a $15 fee for Prestige Tour tournaments and the Spring, Summer and Fall Championships. The remainder of the entry fee will be placed in the players account as tournament credit. After the cancellation deadline has passed if a player cancels, they will be marked as a withdraw and will not be eligible to receive tournament credit.

    What is the No-Show Policy?

        It is the responsibility of the participant to notify the STPGA when canceling out of a tournament. Any member that does not show up for their tee time without previous notice to an SPCA staff member will be considered a "No-Show." An email must be received by STPGA staff prior to the player's starting time to avoid being considered a no-show.


        Spring and Fall Series

        1. Players will be allowed a maximum of 3 no-shows.
        2. Once a player no-shows 3 times in the same series, the player can no longer participate in that respective series. All future registrations for that series will be cancelled and refunded
        3. A warning email will be sent to the player after the 2nd no-show within the series.

        Summer Series

        1. Players will be allowed a maximum of 5 no-shows.
        2. Once a player no-shows 5 times in the Summer Series, the player can no longer participate in that respective series. All future registrations for the Summer Series will be cancelled and refunded.
        3. A warning email will be sent to the player after the 3rd no-show within the series.

        If a player is disqualified (DQ), a no-card (NC), no-show (NS), or withdraws (WD) during Round 1 of a 36-hole competition, they will not be able to participate in Round 2.

    When is the registration/cancellation deadline?

        For weekend events, the registration/cancellation deadline is Monday at 11:59 PM before the event. For weekday events, the registration and cancellation deadline is Wednesday at 11:59 PM before the event.

    What is each Series Championship called?

        • Spring Series -  STPGA Spring Championship -The Clubs of Kingwood (Forest Course) - April 27-28 
        • Summer Series - STPGA Summer Championship hosted at the Woodlands Country Club ( Palmer Course) - August 5-7 
        • Fall Series - STPGA Fall Championship - Hyatt Hill Country Golf Club - December 14-15

    How do I get invited to the Series Championship?

        • Invitations to the 3 Series Championships are given based on the points lists for each division and metro area. Invitation are developed based on participation of each division within each metro area, to ensure adequate and equl representation (Think House of Representatives per our US Government!).
        • Invitation breakdowns differ from season to season and will be released midway through each season. 
        • Points are awarded at each event based on how each player finishes. Points reset at the end of each season for the Little Linksters and Junior Tour. The Junior Links Tour's championship is based on the entire year, so points reset each year. 

    What tours get to play in a Series Championship?

        Little Linksters and Junior Tour are eligible to qualify for the Spring, Summer and Fall Championships. For the Little Linksters division, a player must play in a 9-hole division to be eligible to receive points to qualify.

Weather Policy

Frequently Asked Questions
    Does STPGA cancel or postpone tournaments due to weather?

        The STPGA will host the event unless the host facility deems the weather for the course is unplayable. This includes temperature and precipitation. Decisions related to canceling or delaying an event will be made by the Area Director in conjunction with the STPGA Junior Golf Department. If an event is canceled, the field will be notified of canceled tournaments through email. 

    What happens if the tournament is canceled prior to play?

        STPGA Junior Golf members will be refunded the full entry fee to the method of payment used during registration, or have the option to transfer to another event.
