LAKE CHARLES, LOUISIANA (March 25 - 26, 2023) - This past weekend we held the Lake Charles Spring Classic at Contraband Bayou Golf Club. This Event marked the first joint event of the year between the Southern Texas PGA, Gulf States PGA, and Louisiana Junior Golf Tour. With 86 golfers, we had two days full of great golf.
In the Overall Girls Division, Amelia Guo of Seabrook, established herself as the leader on day one. She carded a (-5) 65 for Round One which included six birdies and zero bogeys, giving her a seven-stroke lead over the field. Amelia brought home the win in Round Two, with a tournament total of (-13) 129, including 14 total birdies for both rounds. Her finish is the lowest tournament total recorded in the STPGA 2023 season. This was Amelia’s third Prestige Tour win since becoming a member of the STPGA in 2014.
In the Overall Boys Division, Ross Anderson of Lake Charles, Louisiana, walked home with the victory. Finishing a bogey-free Round One with a (-4) 67 including four birdies, he landed himself as the leader going into Round Two. Though the leaderboard flipped multiple times during day two, Ross came out victorious. He carded a tournament total of (-6) 136, including a total of seven birdies. Ross was one of the unique players that was an LJGT member as well as an STPGA member. This was his first Prestige Tour win since becoming a member of the STPGA in 2016.
