The Southern Texas PGA is a proud co-owner of the Legends Junior Tour with the Northern Texas PGA and Texas Golf Association. This ownership allows us to award exemptions into Legends Junior Tour events across the state of Texas. The Srixon Prestige Tour is designed to provide high-level competition within our Section, while the Legends Junior Tour creates competition between the best juniors across the state of Texas!
Not only can players earn exemptions into Legends Junior Tour events by playing on the Srixon Prestige Tour, but players also have an opportunity to receive a “Battlefield Promotion”. The Battlefield Promotion was created in 2019 to provide Srixon Prestige Tour and NTPGA All American Tour players direct access to the Legends Junior Tour. It states, should a player win three times in a calendar year on these Tours, such player will earn a Battlefield Promotion to the Legends Junior Tour and would become fully exempt for the remainder of that calendar year and the following year.
Note: Due to the structure of the alliance, the three wins can be combined between the STPGA Srixon Prestige Tour and the NTPGA All-American Tour.
At Srixon Prestige Tour events, players can also earn Priority Status into Legends Junior Tour events. Players who have distinguished themselves in previous Prestige Tour competitions will be given priority over other players. For more information about Legends Junior Tour Priority Status, Click Here.
At each Srixon Prestige Tour event, players can earn an exemption into Legends Junior Tour events or national junior events. Some events that the STPGA offers exemptions into include: Byron Nelson Junior Championship, Junior PGA Championship, Texas Cup Invitational, Texas Girls' Invitational, and the Texas Junior Amateur to name a few.
At each Srixon Prestige Tour event, players can earn exemptions into Legends Junior Tour events, such as the Byron Nelson Junior Championship, the Texas Cup Invitational, the Texas Girls Invitational, and the Texas Junior Amateur, also the Girls and Boys Junior PGA Championships and more. The Battle Field promotion was created in 2019 to provide Prestige Tour and NTPGA All-American Tour players direct access to the Legends Tour. It states, should a player win three times in a calendar year on these two tours with fields larger than 48 players for boys and 18 players for the girls (AJGA required minimum), such player would become fully exempt for the remainder of that calendar year and the following year.
All Srixon Prestige Tour events are considered Tier II events. At each of these events, at least one exemption is up for grabs into a Legends Junior Tour event, and at the same time, points are awarded to the Legends Junior Tour Player of the Year Points List. Click here for more information.
