Questions to ask yourself:

  • Realistically evaluate your golf game, academic goals and personal aspirations with you, your parents, PGA/LPGA professionals and let Collegiate Golf Connections help you.
  • Strengths and weaknesses in all areas, then plan!
  • Am I coachable? Open to hearing ways to get better?
  • Do I work hard enough for the collegiate level I’d like to play?
  • Do I work consistently with a LPGA/PGA professional?
  • Am I a good student and put in the work for my education?

What you need to do:

Set YOUR goals! Not your mom or dad’s goals for you, but yours. It is your experience so find the right fit for you.

  • Create a resume. Golf, academics, clubs at school, LPGA/PGA instructor contact info.
  • Name and graduation year always easily spotted and always in subject line of any email.
  • Research as many schools as possible online, by ranking of the golf program, academic status/strength and geographic

        location.

  • Set up an excel sheet with notes.

Consider the following:

  • How far from home? Does that matter?
  • Can I realistically play on that roster?
  • How many do they need for my year?
  • Do they have the degree I want to pursue?
  • Specific mental golf training?
  • Coaches I can learn from, are they players, teachers or administrators?
  • Strength and conditioning staff?
  • Nutrition services?
  • Academic support services?
  • Academic and athletic aid available?

Remember, there are several options for a college or university experience. Division I, II, III and NAIA or Junior College, all have

variables that we can discuss. But any opportunity to continue playing a sport you love, being a part of a team, working with and

for something bigger than just you, is a great opportunity.
