2012 Changes and Upgrades

Each year the STPGA Junior Golf Program strives to strengthen our product, offer new programs, and continue to value the needs of our customers. Our hope is that with the following changes and enhancements to our program in 2012, we have met your needs as well as exceeded them! Please read on to found out SIX exciting changes to the 2012 season!

1. Tournament Registration Schedule: The STPGA will be introducing for the first time a gradual tournament registration schedule to allow for more people to have the means to sign up for tournaments. Schedules, however, will still be made public well in advance but sign up for tournaments will not commence until closer to the tournament. A detailed schedule can be found on each program’s home page titled Registration Schedule as well as on page 4 of the Junior Golf Handbook.

2. Prestige Tour: In 2012 we will be offering a new 5 event series for the top competitors in our program with 5 unbelievable 2-day events at premier facilities in Texas. These events will have an increase amount of points, qualifiers for state and national tournaments, and the most professionally run tournaments. The schedule will be released on Feb 1, 2012!

3. Little Linksters Clinics: ONLY new first time members of the Little Linksters Program MUST complete a clinic. If you are a returning member you will not need to complete another clinic. You will be placed in the same division in 2012 as you ended in 2011. However, we strongly encourage all members to seek PGA Professional instruction to improve their game.

4. Little Linksters Advancement: Starting in 2012, Little Linksters will now only need to score two rounds in the correct Target Scoring Bracket to advance to the next division. In the past it had to be two consecutive rounds, but starting this year, if a player scores in the correct Target Scoring Bracket twice in one season, they will advance to the next division. Our hope is that more players will now be able to move up divisions throughout the year.

5. AJGA: Starting in 2012 the person with the most points on our Point’s List at the end of the summer in the divisions listed below will earn the following performance stars or All Star tournament exemptions!

Boys 16-18 Points Champion: 4 performance stars

Boys 13-15 Points Champion: 1 Junior All-Star tournament exemption

Girls 16-18 Points Champion: 4 performance stars

Girls 13-15 Points Champion: 1 Junior All-Star tournament exemption

6. Three Series – Three Championships: Continuing what was started in 2011, the program will be broken down into three series all with its own Championship! The goal is to make each event, no matter the time of the year, worth something for the juniors. Some events will have exemptions while a majority of them will have points awarded to the competitors. Our goal is to make each Championship a little different while maintaining an ‘inside the rope’ feel for the juniors!
