Grip Pressure Tip
Quite often grip pressure is one of the least talked about fundamentals in golf. But, it is undoubtedly one of the most vital things to do properly. The grip pressure is the gauge that regulates your timing and tempo. As an exercise take ten balls and grip the club as hard as you can and hit them. Now take ten balls and grip the club as easy as you can and hit them.
You will be amazed at how much better your tempo and solidness of contact is when you grip the club lighter. Often I talk to my students and ask them to grip the club somewhere in the lower range of pressure when practicing. In other words if your most firm grip pressure is at a 10 on the scale and the least pressure is at 1 on the scale I prefer that you practice at about a 3 on the pressure scale.
The closer you get to the hole the more vital light grip pressure becomes. Anyone who is having problems with short putts is more than likely gripping the club to firmly. Experiment with your own grip pressure and find what level works best for you. Good Luck and I will see you on the range.
