The Southern Texas Section of the PGA of America is comprised of over 800 golf professionals representing over 500 facilities in Southern Texas. Our geographic area includes Beaumont, Houston, Bryan-College Station, Austin, San Antonio, Corpus Christi and the Rio Grande Valley.
The purpose of our organization is to promote enjoyment and involvement in the game of golf, and to contribute to its growth by providing services to golf professionals and the golf industry. The PGA will accomplish this mission by enhancing the skills of its professionals and the opportunities for amateurs, employers, manufacturers and the general public. In so doing, the PGA will elevate the standards of the professional golfer’s vocation, enhance the economic well-being of the individual member, stimulate interest in the game of golf, and promote the overall vitality of the game.
The Southern Texas PGA has taken a leadership role in the region's junior golf activities through the Southern Texas PGA Foundation's Junior Golf Program. Designed to introduce golf to beginning juniors and to enhance the skills of juniors already involved in the game, the Foundation's goals are achieved through a variety of instructional programs and clinics, tournaments and golf programs throughout southern Texas. The Junior Golf Program includes five different programs for juniors ages 6-18 in the seven different metro areas of Austin, Beaumont, Bryan/College Station, Corpus Christi, Houston, San Antonio and the Rio Grande Valley.
Over 3,000 juniors enrolled in the Foundation's activities in 2013.
The Southern Texas PGA Foundation will introduce and provide youth in South Texas broad opportunities to experience the game of golf, develop their talent as players, and themselves as individuals and promote scholarship benefits to as many qualified candidates as possible. The STPGA Foundation will uphold the highest degree of professionalism necessary to motivate young men and women to strive for personal integrity, honor and ideals.
